Mount Sherman.

My first snow ascent and summit. I've hiked and climbed several peaks in the summer, all rocks and scree, but before this, my experience with snow in the mountains was kept to an extreme minimum. It was decided that in 2016, that has to change. A wise man once told me that there is no such thing as an easy climb, only "hard," "harder," and "hardest." Mount Sherman falls towards the "hard" category, and figured it would be a good mountain to cut our teeth on. There was new equipment to carry, like snowshoes, microspikes, and trekking poles, and I have to admit, they make a world of a difference, for the better of course.

If you've already visited the Longs Peak page, you'll see that I've determined that to be my favorite climb so far. Well, up until that climb, this one was my favorite. The snow brings a whole new element, and it is an absolute blast. After this climb, I want to do many more in the snow. I'm a little more properly geared up and have the itch to get back out there once the snow returns. You could probably say this is my favorite snow climb, but given that it's my only one so far, it automatically gets that distinction.
